I don’t understand the frustration going around about Dean giving such nicknames to Cas. I think Dean fully understands how old Castiel really is, and I think it kinda scares him. It could be a defensive mechanism, because how do you talk to someone who was here before humanity even existed and not feel like a tiny ant?
Besides, you’d think someone who’s millennia old would be wise and have awesome swag, but because Castiel’s centuries of experience have nothing to do with the human world, he is so incapable within it I think it kinda amuses Dean. Moreover, you’d think someone so old and wise would be capable of making the right decision, but no: Cas only got free will two years ago, after he rebelled; before that he was only used to blindly following orders; so yes, technically he does have decision making skills of a two-year-old child. And Dean fully understands that he is the cause of that, and that he is responsible for teaching Cas wrong from right, so it frustrates him like hell when Cas fails, because it is Dean’s failure too.
